My Refuge

It is the enemy’s goal to fluster us so he could send us running and sulking in a corner, licking our wounds and letting misery take hold of us. He does everything in his power to drive us away from seeking the presence of the Lord, so we would give up and take cover in things that could give us instant pleasure and gratification. He tries to frustrate our plans, to ruin our day – He will do everything and use anything to keep us from worshiping the Lord.

But if we are wise, we can discern his schemes and defeat him at his own game: let him drive us to the feet of Jesus and there, seek relief and refreshing! Do not let him drive us climbing the wall, distraught. If he sees we are fleeing in utter defeat, he will only heap on us his whole storehouse of weapons, and before we know it, we can no longer rise from the sheer weight.

May we take a little while to look at the picture above? That little star bravely appears in all its beauty. Surrounded by the big petals, it seemed so small, but shines nonetheless. If we take refuge in the Lord, we are like that little star: surrounded by His presence, His love and His power –  nothing can touch us. And we can bravely face the world and let our light shining brightly.

As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the Lord is round about his people from henceforth even for ever. (Psalm 125: 2)

This weekend, when the enemy tries his ploys on us, may we remember to run and take cover in the presence of the Lord, reviving ourselves in His peace, gaining spiritual power and obtaining victory on our knees.

May I invite you to read the latest testimony of God’s miraculous healing that I wrote over at Minister of Mercy: Love Begets Miracle. Faced with the scariest trial, read how mother and daughter defeated the enemy by taking refuge in the Lord. I pray that you’ll be blessed by it. Amen.

  3. Oh so very true! My post today is the culmination of a very long, busy week, coupled with some physical issues. This is when Satan is most likely to attack and I let my guard down. I inadvertently removed my armor and passively allowed him to have fun with me. I’m only just now recovering. Through it all I know where to turn. I recognize my mistake. And I pray that I am more careful the next time things begin to get out of control.

    Blessings, Debbie
