Remembering God’s Lovingkindness

Photobucket

It was only before 5 o’clock in the afternoon when we arrived in the stadium but it seemed like the whole surroundings had become gloomy and cold upon our arrival. Although I was covered from head to toe because of my illness, I shivered as I sat inside the car, suddenly feeling afraid and wondering what would become of me going to that place.

Earlier, after I had eaten lunch, I felt so ill and weak I could no longer open my eyes. My throat began to constrict and there were movements inside my chest that made my body stiff while I lay in bed unable to move. I felt the presence of my then two-year-old daughter. She entwined her small hand into mine and she held it tightly for a while, then left the room. After her, I sensed a maid enter the room and upon seeing me, she was horrified and cried that I was pale as a ghost. Her voice seemed to me like it was coming from under the earth.

Without going into much detail, my employee and friend Joanne (she was the one who told me about Jesus Miracle Crusade International Ministry where she has been attending for many years) came to our house and with the help of the maids, assisted me to her car and together we left for the Wednesday service of JMCIM. (Felix my husband was still working in another company). I had received the Lord Jesus Christ two weeks before, but I hadn’t gone to the worship service to be baptized in water in His name. And that afternoon, feeling certain that I might die already, I wanted to be brought to His feet thinking that if I died there, it would be alright.

Joanne returned carrying a plastic chair with two brothers in tow to carry me up the stairs in the chair. (Now, I remember that man in Mark 2:3-4 sick of the palsy who was borne of four and was let down from the roof and brought to the feet of Jesus). The heartfelt singing of I Believe reverberated throughout the stadium as the whole congregation sang and worshiped. After I had settled in my seat, an elderly prayer warrior came and welcomed me. Later on, a sister in Jesus Finest Generation Choir uniform quietly sat beside me and shared her testimony.

She was almost whispering and tears were streaming down her face as she talked. She said that the Lord healed her of her incurable liver disease. I had felt then her deep love and adoration for the Lord Jesus Christ, like that of the woman with alabaster box who washed Jesus’ feet with her tears, wiped them with her hair and anointed them with the precious ointment.

And thus began my love story with the Savior of my soul, the Healer of my heart, mind and body, the Restorer of my family – my only Lord and King.

This was almost nine years ago but every time I recall God’s LOVINGKINDNESS through these years, tears fill my eyes and I’m reminded again of a love that’s pure and perfect.

For this is God,
Our God forever and ever;
He will be our guide
Even to death. (Psalm 48:14)
