I Believe

Praise is awaiting You, O God, in Zion;
And to You the vow shall be performed.
O You who hear prayer,
To You all flesh will come. (Psalm 65:1-2)

David is at it again, praising God with all his might and with all that is in him. In this psalm, he exalts the Lord for all His wonderful deeds and goodness. And on this day, I, too, choose to declare the tender mercies of God in my life.

“I Believe” reverberated to all corners of the stadium as the whole congregation worshiped. It was the day that I received the Lord Jesus Christ.

A few months later, I remained unhealed. I stayed at home often sitting in our garage as my beloved husband went out to work. There were days that physical suffering intensified, and with it the mental agony and emotional challenges it brought. My husband would find me staring at the azure sky, and I would tell him, “As long as I see that piece of endless blue, where I know God dwells – I will believe.”

Towards the end of that year (2004), we stayed in the Fasting House in Pampanga, in a spacious room beside the chapel. I was very sick. I requested my husband to buy me a wheelchair. I was dying to see the outside.

In the morning the first time I was wheeled outside of our room, I looked up at the vast sky and gazed long at the trees and the green grass. I drank in my surroundings – the wonderful creation of God.

Every time I hear a new-born baby cry, or touch a leaf, or see the sky…then I know why — I believe!

It’s been almost 9 years since that day that I was carried  in a plastic chair by  two JMCIM brothers to the stadium – sick, weak, and scared. Nine years of:

tasting and seeing the goodness of the Lord

going through fiery trials

hard learning

receiving wisdom

being showered with His endless mercies too many that I’ve lost count

glimpses of His glory

basking in His light and comfort

resting in His unfailing love

From faith to faith, grace to grace, strength to strength, glory to glory – I BELIEVE. More than ever before.

I, too, believe! We were admonished in church this evening to take time to enjoy God’s creation. We’re so busy we forget to enjoy what God made for us to enjoy. I’m going to spend time this week just enjoying and praising.
