Our Zion

Meditating on Psalm 87:

The Lord loves the gates of Zion
More than all the dwellings of Jacob.
Glorious things are spoken of you,
O city of God! Selah (Psalm 87:2-3)

The psalmists often featured Zion as God’s favorite of all the cities in Israel. Indeed, many of the psalms that were written speak of Zion and its glory. But Zion as we know and read about it is not only that place where the city of David was built. While pondering on Psalm 87, I had this idea of thinking about Zion as also the congregation of the saints in our present time where the Spirit of God dwells. In other words, the true Church of the living God.*

I want to share this with you, not to slight any other Christian church out there, but to tell of the wonders of God that He has shown and continues to show in our Church, The Jesus Church, or more popularly known as JESUS MIRACLE CRUSADE INTERNATIONAL MINISTRY.

Ever since I received salvation in 2003, I haven’t been able to travel abroad because of my illness, but many of our beloved brethren in Christ have, their jobs bringing them to different places around the world. Also, beloved Annaliza, the daughter of our beloved pastor, who is married to an American minister whose father is a bishop of the church in Evansville, Florida and the chairman of AWCF (Apostolic World Christian Fellowship), often comes to visit with their whole family and she doesn’t fail to express her elation to be worshiping with the saints of God in JMCIM Central Church in Quezon City. She testifies, weeping, that in America, their hearts have grown cold. She hardly sees a miracle happening, or the Spirit of God outpouring upon the worshipers. She always tends to compare and consequently feels melancholic and would want to go home to our country to seek God with other worshipers and feel His powerful presence once again.

Indeed, glorious things are spoken of you, O Church of God!

I haven’t been to other Christian churches especially abroad, so I can only speak of ours and what I have continuously seen and experienced through the years that we’ve been serving the Lord. And yes, the Spirit of God moves powerfully in His congregation. Prophecies, testimonies, speaking in tongues, healing miracles – all these are witnessed in His Church and I have been blessed to write about them. I have seen the poor, the sick and suffering, criminals, addicts, come to Church, receive the Lord Jesus Christ and water baptism in His name, and leave reborn!

And of Zion it will be said,
This one and that one were born in her;
And the Most High Himself shall establish her.”
The Lord will record,
When He registers the peoples:
“This one was born there.” Selah (vv. 5-6, emphasis added)

Every year, members of AWCF led by beloved Bishop Samuel Smith come to visit our Church and worship with us and they don’t fail to feel the anointing, the powerful presence of God in the midst of His Church.

Both the singers and the players on instruments say,
“All my springs are in you.” (v. 7)

Yes! The springs of the Water of Life are in our midst – in our Zion!
