Meditating on Psalm 105.
Oh, give thanks to the Lord!
Call upon His name;
Make known His deeds among the peoples!
2 Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him;
Talk of all His wondrous works! (Ps. 105: 1-2)
Psalm 105 is a testimony of God’s marvellous works to His people Israel. Beginning with His covenant with Abraham, when He called him to a foreign nation down to when Joseph was brought to Egypt to be sold as a slave. God tested Joseph, but in the end, He lifted him up, making him great in the land of Egypt.
It proceeds to narrate the travails of Jacob, when he went to dwell also in Egypt, where God multiplied him greatly, and he became a strong people which He called Israel, His very own. The psalm speaks of how the Lord delivered His people from hard bondage through His servants, Aaron and Moses. Then goes on to tell of Israel’s voyage to Canaan, the Promised Land. Detail upon detail, it testifies of how God worked wonders, miracles, and mighty deeds in their midst.
Psalm 105 is just one of the psalms that models for us how to give glory to God by declaring His power, goodness, and faithfulness that He has shown. His ancient people remembered and talked about them, wrote and sang of them. So that through the ages, His testimonies will never be forgotten.
And we, the modern Israelites, His beloved redeemed, must do the same. Our testimonies of God’s mercy and love, of how He has worked in our lives, and continues to work – these are our precious, enduring treasures.
Our family has been blessed to witness the power of God working through miracles and answered prayers. Indeed, in the almost ten years of walking with Him, boldly believing and trusting Him in every step, however scary it has been, He has shown us that He is a God who lives and breathes and knows and hears and moves. And moves really mightily.
Through my illness and sufferings, those walks through the shadow of the valley of death, full of fear and trembling – He always came through for me, raising me up by His mighty arm like no other could! Through sicknesses in the family, problems, and difficulties, when we prayed and prayed and called upon His name, and worshiped in the midst of it all – He heard and answered without delay!
After each trial and testing, He lifts up, and lovingly draws us ever closer to Him.
I could talk about each and every one of His miracles and mighty acts that He has wrought in our lives but I can never get to the bottom of it! Praise ye the Lord!
Now, I’d like to share with you a powerful testimony of a brother in Christ which I had written recently at Minister of Mercy. It is an undisputable fulfilment of God’s promise in Isaiah 43. Please click the link: Through the Flood: The testimony of Bro. Edu Cortez.
