At the Presence of the Lord

Meditating on Psalm 114.

The sea saw it and fled;
Jordan turned back.

What ails you, O sea, that you fled?
O Jordan, that you turned back? (vv. 3, 5)

At the presence of the Lord, the God Almighty who created heaven and earth, the sea divides, so His people can walk through.

At the presence of the Lord, the river pulls back, so His warriors cam pass through to the battle.

Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord,
At the presence of the God of Jacob,
Who turned the rock into a pool of water,
The flint into a fountain of waters. (vv. 7, 8)

In our generation, the presence of the Lord still commands the impossible for His faithful ones.

At the presence of the Lord, a plane is held and steadied from its free fall and its passengers saved from destruction.

At the presence of the Lord, the rushing floodwaters had no power over a brother in Christ.

At the presence of the Lord, demons of sickness that try to strangle a child flee.

At the presence of the Lord, the power of Satanism over a man is subdued and he is liberated.

At the presence of the Lord, guns, drugs, destruction, have no power over a Christ-believer.

But the marvellous miracles and mighty deeds of the Lord don’t happen everyday. When we carry on our roles as God’s maidservant, wife, mother, homemaker, employee or employer, friend – do we need the Lord’s presence then? Indeed! We need Him in our ordinary days as much as in our emergencies.

At the presence of the Lord, the sick and the suffering can find peace and comfort.

At the presence of the Lord, we are given wisdom to handle problems and difficult circumstances.

At the presence of the Lord, a provoked mother can grasp for patience and gentle words.

At the presence of the Lord, a harried homemaker can find rest to her soul, mind and body.

At the presence of the Lord, we can lift up prayers that touch the throne of grace.

At the presence of the Lord, through His Holy Spirit that abides in us, we can love God with all our beings, we can know and do His will, and follow Him wherever He leads. We can be willing to “die” to ourselves for His sake.

Beautiful thoughts! At His Presence, we are able to do that which we would not otherwise be able. Thank you so much for sharing this. I was your neighbor this morning at Inspire Me Monday.
    Have a great Monday,

Hi Rina! How important it is for us to be that presence of the Lord in our lives. We may not always see an outright miracle, but we can be one to another who needs us. Beautiful thoughts for Monday!

    Peace,
    Ceil
