Resurrection Power

Whoever said we can’t feast on Good Friday? Last Friday, the Lord prepared a banquet in Amoranto Stadium where our church, Jesus Miracle Crusade International Ministry, holds services, and all who came were in for an 8-hour long of feasting. I anticipated the event, coming in and bringing nothing but a huge appetite. It’s been quite a long time that I eagerly looked forward to spiritual feasting. You know, being in that place of complacency and not realizing that the fire in the spirit is already slowly fading. Over a decade of illness and suffering, waiting and hoping, and doing all you can to gain God’s favor can sometimes discourage you or numb you and drive you into lukewarmness. Of course, there is a warning voice saying —

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” (Gal. 6:9)

“We ought always to pray and not to faint.” (Luke 18:1)

“Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love”. (Rev. 2:4)

But sometimes, we choose to ignore them, thinking that we are just fine: we still pray and read the Bible regularly, still talk and write about the Word. But we know deep inside that we are not ablaze.

I wanted to stir up my faith and hope of healing, really desiring and believing for a miracle for me to walk and travel again. So, before the Friday overnight service, I decided to take note of the testimonies, to really listen and absorb every word. I worked up an appetite for all of God. You see, listening to testimonies upon testimonies of God’s miracles and wondrous works for many years can also make us take them for granted. Here are just some of the testimonies I took note of:

Sister Joy Casio was healed from rotting eardrum. There was a hole in her eardrum, was infected and puss oozed from it. No cure from the meds she took but when she joined in the mass healing of JMCIM on TV, she was instantly healed and, eventually, saved.

Sister Maria Fe Lebli  thanked the Lord for a blessed 14 days fasting (a miraculous feat!). She was healed from the work of witchcraft which put numerous cysts around her neck, blood and puss oozing from them.

Sister Agnes just finished 14 days fasting. Years before when she received the Lord Jesus Christ, she was delivered from her addiction to gambling. (The Lord changes people and gives them new life!)

Brother Dennis Cerilo was healed from kidney disease and stones also during mass healing on JMCIM TV program which paved the way to his salvation. His young son was bitten by a dog. The child became very sick with high fever. The dog died after a few days. But the child recovered after prayers and laying on of hands. His daughter graduated valedictorian from high school  receiving 9 medals and 10 awards. His wife is a house help. When her employer leaned that her daughter was a valedictorian, she gave new clothes for the whole family and money for food to celebrate.

Can we say Hallelujah!?

During the foot washing, the selected members of the Jesus Finest Generation Choir made their formation on the platform, opened each of their folders and began to sing the first song from their repertoire. As brethren took turns in washing and wiping feet, the choir sang beautiful praise songs. I was caught up in the glory of it all and though my abdomen was weak, that didn’t stop me from singing a few. Tears flowed as the Lord rekindled my love and desire to serve Him.

I was wide awake as the preachers began the 7 Last Words of Jesus at around past 2AM. I devoured everything. Even before the final “Amen” was uttered at the end of Friday’s overnight service at around past 4AM, I was filled to the brim. The resurrection power of God was wrought upon me, what better way to observe Lent?

That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. (Phil. 3:10-11)

For this is the promise we cling upon:

But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. (Rom. 8:11)
